Create a Heavenly Home Gym
Setting up your home gym
Setting up your home gym shouldn’t be something you take lightly, this is your place of solace, a place to achieve your fitness goals, and a place to let go.
There are many benefits to a gym at home:
* No waiting
* It’s open 24 hours a day
* It has more privacy
* You can play your own music to your heart’s content, now where’s that copy of “The Birdie Song”!!
* It’s a place you can call your own
However……….to repeat setting up a Home Gym is not to be taken lightly they cost time and money however they are also immensely rewarding IF you get them just right, and that’s where we can help!!
Fitness Goals
Yes goals again, you need them..!!
The reason that most people begin a fitness regime only quite a couple of weeks later is a lack of goals and direction, and we don’t want to go that way……..do we?
Spend a few days thinking of your fitness goals, what do you want to achieve?
* Get a “Six Pack”
* Live longer
* Increase your vitality
* Lose weight
* Gain strength
* Get your body ready for the beach
* Feel good about yourself
* Complete a triathlon
* Complete a marathon
* Don’t get out of breath going up the stairs!!
If we want to get someplace we need a map and a vision of our direction, so don’t just set the big goals of competing in Mr. Universe, set the big goal as your overriding vision, and then “chunk” your goal down into smaller steps.
Your goal down into smaller steps.
* Shave 10 seconds off your run
* Increase your Cardio session by 10 mins
* Add a couple of plates to your bench weights
This way you can be sure that you don’t lose focus of the big goal and you constantly stay on track and motivated
Whatever your goals are just remember they are YOUR goals and as such, they can never be wrong.
Space
Check out the space you have for your gym as this will be one of the major factors in your purchase of equipment, the comfort, and the effectiveness of your workout.
Some of the areas to think about are:
* Ventilation
* Noise (how loud is your workout music and will it disturb others)
* Is the room only to be used as a gym
* How much sq ft is available
* Do you need fold away equipment
Make sure that your space is an appealing environment. If your gym is dank, cold, and squalid your not going to find it easy to switch off from the outside world and REALLY workout. Some areas to think about are:
* Lighting
* Heating
* Windows
* Carpet
* Pictures and posters
* Music and TV
Reiterate measure
And to reiterate measure EVERYTHING including the height of the ceiling, when your lifting weights above your head you don’t want to be hitting the ceiling, also make sure you make not of stairwells, doorways, or other features you may need to negotiate when installing your equipment.
